Let yourself be carried away by the elegant and poetic line of Étienne Le Roux, the author of the excellent Temple of the Past (Les Univers de Stefan Wul – Ankama), the 14/18 series (Delcourt) and the Oath of the amber.
This sketchbook offers you a walk in a world of daydreams, rich in emotions. Delicately sketched naked women curl up in the first pages of this book. A simple, precise gesture... Frozen, erotic moments... The design is fluid and precise at the same time. Throughout the pages, the women become savages, warriors, or Amazons and the sweetness gives way to a universe of heroic-fantasy that the artist perfectly masters.
Étienne Le Roux then takes us through eras and worlds, with freeze frames. We discover small skits of a past daily life, thought, imagined, endearing characters: men in costumes, heroines in togas or fatigues, disturbing soldiers, cosmonauts in full action, friendly cowboys, winged centaurs, roaring demons, insects strange, misshapen monsters… They take us with them through streets, battlefields, imaginary planets and cities with sumptuously detailed architectures. We would like to get lost or stop there for a while...
Then, the line of Étienne Le Roux, is sometimes more tormented, with dark tints as desired when he draws the horror of war.
But we find, at the turn of a page, all his delicacy and precision when he draws a tender homage to King-Kong or the space shuttles of the futuristic closed door The Temple of the Past.
Paintings, engravings, sketches, everything is there, a real cabinet of curiosities to discover urgently!
