Juanjo Guarnido is a Spanish comic book artist born in 1967. He participated in the design of several fanzines and published illustrations in Comics Forum - Planeta de Agostini for the Spanish edition of Marvel Comics. He then moved to Madrid where he worked at the Lapiz Azul animation studio. It was in this studio that he met Juan Diaz Canales, who would become his scriptwriter for Blacksad.
Juanjo Guarnido was hired in 1993 at Walt Disney Studios in Montreuil. He works there as a layout-man (set designer) and then as an animator. In his spare time, he began to produce his first album, Blacksad: Somewhere between the Shadows.
Sa nouvelle série, Sorcelleries, est parue en 2008 aux éditions Dargaud.
